"Emotional Intelligence In Your Practice" - A summary

Emotional Intelligence stormed the world in 1995 when Daniel Goleman's published the book Emotional Intelligence. Now it's the fastest-growing area of life and executive coaching.
EQ coaches are unique; they help their clients achieve greater goals in shorter time and effort. They feel it's not about being 'book smart'. What makes the difference is being 'people smart.'
EQ is about managing emotions, both our own and others. EQ coaching provides a comprehensive set of coaching skills and tools that provide a natural extension to life.

It is said that IQ, cognitive intelligence, is set at birth. However, EQ can be learnt. According to research the best way to enhance EQ is by working with a coach. To accelerate the success rate of the client coaches have deviced special 'coaching tools.' Apparently, EQ can be measured and this way coaches can identify the client''s strengths and weaknesses more easily.

Finally, the author highlights that by incorporating EQ into practice we will be impressed by the positive results it produces.

50FIRSTDATES

Henry meets Lucy in a cafe and they develop a relationship. However, it soon emerges that Lucy suffers from short-term memory loss due to a car accident she was in a year earlier with her dad. This leaves her with no memory of anything between the day of the accident and the present. Henry therefore must find new and imaginiative ways of winning Lucy's heart every day, again and again.
I like the ending of this movie a lot. They finally get married and have a child. Every morning Lucy wakes up in a room, watches a video and sees that she is married, in Antarctica with her father, Henry and daughter of her own.... in the middle of the ocean on a boat.
And.......they lived happily ever after.......
THE END
This is one of the very 'touching' movies I've ever watched. If you believe in love that knows no boundaries, sacrifice for it with patience... accepting the person you love no matter what he/she is..... you definitely want to watch this one. It shows that even when our brain stops remembering our hearts never forget.

Comparison and Contrast Paragraph

What are the different ways in which intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence contribute to the development of an undergraduate?

Both intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence are important for the development of an undergraduate, but in different ways. Intellectual intelligence is about the success of a student in academics. Intellectuals maintain focus on a particular task and work towards its success. They continuously meet and exceed academic goals. Students with only intellectual intelligence are cornered in the student society. They keep getting A grades for modules but rarely go along well with friends. These kinds of people, without a decent level of emotional intelligence, are a burden to the workplace once they start working. They don’t know how to interact and communicate with the society, understand everyone’s needs and have empathy over them. So they are considered as failures in life. For example, Mozart was a world famous fine musician but a failure in every other aspect of life! So, students need to constantly think and remind themselves about how both intellectual and emotional intelligence can develop them. In some cases, students aren’t able to perform well in studies however much talented they are because all they are doing is battling emotions inside. It’s also worth to realize that some students who aren’t very bright in studies do well in life because of their amazing emotional intelligence. Therefore, both intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence are important in different ways for the development of an undergraduate student.

Problem Solution paragraph - (topic 10)

NUS can enhance the awareness of the importance of emotional intelligence (EI) by organizing workshops on controlling emotions. Most students these days are mainly only concerned about their academic work- days are spent in lecture theatres, tutorial rooms and reading rooms studying away. At the end of the semester, when the student gets an A grade he thinks he is intelligent. In fact he is, but only partially. ‘Intelligence’ has its domains like academic, emotional, and practical. So it’s sensible to realize that if you spend all your time on one, eg academics, then you will fail at the rest. In intense cases, where students can’t handle life situations maturely, would give up and try to commit suicide. Of course, that wouldn’t receive endorsement from a university. Hence, the University should take measures to remind students of EI and how it can help them perform well in academics. Workshops on anger management is a very good idea. Majority of the modern day students are always stressed and tend to get very angry when things don’t go their way. Counselors can be invited to advise students on how to control emotions, successfully interact with peers and hence become a ‘social butterfly.’ These programmes will also stress students to communicate with peers, which will lead to their better understanding of how other people think and adjust accordingly. Therefore, it’s essential that NUS takes an initiative to inculcate emotional intelligence in students.

What is Life ?

Life is like playing a violin in public and learning the instrument as one goes on. Everyday is a learning experience- filled with an unbroken succession of successes and failures, more of the latter actually. Going down memory lane, we have all had an infant age where we couldn’t even walk with proper balance. It was through a series of very unpleasant and painful experiences that we all finally managed to set foot with confidence. Same goes for our academic life- none of us could remember ABC and 123 from day one of primary school but eventually, with time, we mastered it and now we are even in University. Point being, life happens to be the achievement of success in every possible way but the glory of ones life lies deep inside in the tedious learning encounters that he/she had to go through. Would a river have looked so nice without having to pass by the giant obstructing boulders? Would our lives have looked so wonderful without all the failures that we have all been through?
However, I’m not trying to convince you to dwell on your past failures but use them as the stepping stone to many more future successes- this is the principle of my life.
Through out my life, I have had more failures than successes but it hasn’t stopped me from being what I always wanted to be. Life might be full of misery and loneliness but take a moment to see the brighter side and relish it. Life is not as long as it may seem, so........................
